Martian Time-Slip
Martian Time-Slip by Philip K. Dick (1964) - Classic early 1960s PKD: set up a batch of characters with complicated relationships in a tokenly sci-fi setting and pull reality out from under their feet halfway through. Includes lots of disturbing material about schizophrenia.

Opel
Opel by Syd Barrett (Capitol/1988) - More Syd. This is a mid-1980s compilation of outtakes and alternatives from the Madcap and Barrett sessions. Less overdubby stuff, more Syd alone with a guitar. Which is just fine, say I.

Real Gone
Real Gone by Tom Waits (Anti/2004) - Tom Waits’ most recent long player, and boy did they give this one a heavy soaking in the distortion bucket. I hope they’ve gotten that out of their system. A few tracks come off as generic Waitsian boogieman boogie, but then he’ll hit you with a killer ballad like Green Grass. Tom Waits… collect ‘em all, kids.
